Hey Bright Builders!
This week’s newsletter is on pause as I recover from surgery.
Is it life-threatening?
No.
I tore my meniscus.
Again.
Sigh.
(At this rate, I should ask for discounts from my orthopedic surgeon.)
I’m doing just fine, and I’ll be at it again next week.
Going forward, we’re going to send out The Bright Build using a platform called ConvertKit.
Does this affect you?
Yes, but only in a way that should make you smile :-)
The Bright Build will still be delivered to your email inbox weekly, except now it will be free for *everyone*.
As I reflected on what I wanted to accomplish in 2024, I realized I wanted to get more aspiring developers off the sidelines and into the learning phase of their developer careers. And it just made more sense to make the newsletter free for all.
Leveraging a different platform will also let me spend less time answering one flavor of question I get daily via email and social media, namely, the “Hey, I was just on Substack, and I read X, Y, and B post, so what should I read next?!”
Through Convertkit, I can better organize our newsletter and send it out to new readers in the order in which it’s supposed to be read.
I’m gonna work smart and not hard :-)
Okay. So what does this mean for you?
It means if you were previously a paying monthly subscriber (you are awesome, and I appreciate it DEEPLY!), you are no longer being charged. We’ve turned off all payments.
You’ll still have access to the archive of recent Bright Build posts (we’re going to host them on www.thebrightbuild.com), but in the future, new posts will just show up in your inbox as we transition you over to our new platform.
I still respond to subscriber emails, and we still do the monthly Q and A.
If you were on a yearly plan and you paid for a year in advance (again, you are awesome!), we’ll continue to post on Substack for you through the end of your subscription, and then, of course, you will STILL have access to the newsletter on our new platform.
As far as I am concerned, if you are reading THIS update, you are one of our founding, OG subscribers and I plan to keep delivering content that gently nudges YOU into developer land :-)
I really appreciate your understanding of this quick shift in how we deliver the newsletter. This small change has already made my life easier, and newsletter growth has grown by 60% (which means we’re reaching more aspiring developers).
If you are confused by any of this, just shoot me an email and I’ll answer any questions. I double-pinky swear you will not miss out on the newsletter.
I mean…why would I? This is too much fun.
See you next week as we continue our virtual development.
Peace.
Wishing you a speedy recovery Sean ....
Thank you for acting on your goal of moving us from the sidelines - I am really glad I found you when I did. Your content, insights and experience sharing has been so helpful.
Fun fact: I recently had to explain during a presentation how and why the number of units we were planning for wasn't the most important aspect of the viability of our building design and layout.
And that clarification is what one of the investors said was his conviction to get on board the project and ask for us to send paperwork for due diligence.
